The original Z-TRAILER 4Jx12 H2 ET45, 5×112 aluminium rim for twin-wheel fitment is designed for Z-TRAILER car transporters with twin wheels. It is suitable as a replacement rim or for assembling a complete twin wheel with a 145 R12C 86/84N tyre.

The specific 4Jx12 H2 ET45 rim design allows two narrow wheels to be fitted side by side on each side of the axle. On selected Z-TRAILER car transporters, the twin-wheel configuration is designed primarily to provide high load capacity, a substantial tyre load reserve and exceptionally stable driving characteristics.

Advantages of Z-TRAILER twin wheels

Twin-wheel fitment means using two wheels side by side on each side of the axle. A twin-axle car transporter is therefore equipped with a total of 8 tyres instead of the usual four. The trailer load is distributed across a significantly greater number of tyres, providing high load capacity, a substantial operating reserve and exceptionally stable driving characteristics.

The main advantage of twin wheels is not achieving the lowest possible loading platform – low-profile R10 wheels, for example, have an advantage in this respect. The Z-TRAILER twin-wheel configuration is primarily intended for applications where stability of the loaded car transporter and even distribution of the load across a greater number of tyres are the priorities.

• Load distributed across 8 tyres – on a twin-axle trailer, the total load is distributed across eight tyres instead of four.
• High overall load capacity – two tyres on each side of the axle allow high loads to be carried while using relatively narrow 12" wheels.
• Substantial tyre operating reserve – with eight tyres, each individual tyre carries a significantly smaller share of the total load when the weight is evenly distributed. Correct tyre pressure must nevertheless be maintained and checked regularly.
• Exceptionally stable driving characteristics – the twin-wheel arrangement and distribution of the load across eight tyres contribute to very stable trailer behaviour, particularly when transporting heavy vehicles.
• Stable support on each side of the axle – the load is supported by a pair of tyres positioned side by side rather than by a single tyre.
• Operating reserve in the event of tyre damage – if one tyre loses pressure, the second wheel on the same side of the axle continues to provide temporary support. The damaged tyre must be dealt with immediately and the remaining tyre must not be overloaded.

The Z-TRAILER twin-wheel system therefore represents an interesting alternative to a conventional four-wheel car transporter. Its main advantages are load distribution across eight tyres, high load capacity and exceptionally stable driving behaviour when the trailer is loaded.

Original Z-TRAILER twin-wheel design

The 4Jx12 H2 ET45, 5×112 rim corresponds to the original specification used on selected Z-TRAILER car transporters with twin wheels. The correct rim width, ET45 offset, 5×112 bolt pattern and 67.1 mm centre bore ensure the correct positioning of the pair of wheels in relation to the axle and trailer structure.

The rim is designed for a 145 R12C 86/84N tyre. Narrow 12" tyres allow two wheels to be installed side by side while maintaining compact overall dimensions. Z-TRAILER car transporters use MAXXIS UE-168 145 R12C 86/84N tyres.

This rim is designed for twin-wheel fitment and must not be confused with the standard Z-TRAILER 7Jx12 H2 ET30 aluminium rim for single-wheel fitment.
