AL-KO 2051 AAA Brake Shoes 200 × 50 mm

The genuine AL-KO 1730057 brake shoe set is designed for AL-KO 2051 AAA wheel brakes with automatic adjustment. The brake has an internal brake drum diameter of 200 mm and a brake shoe width of 50 mm.

This is a small service set for 1 axle / 2 wheels. It contains four brake shoes together with the corresponding springs and retaining components required to replace the brake shoes in both wheel brakes on one axle.

AAA – AL-KO Automatic Adjustment

AAA (AL-KO Automatic Adjustment) is the automatic wheel brake adjustment system. As the brakes are used and the brake linings gradually wear, excessive clearance can develop inside the brake. The AAA system detects this clearance and automatically readjusts the brake.

Automatic adjustment keeps the wheel brake correctly adjusted without the need for routine manual readjustment caused by the gradual wear of the brake shoes. AL-KO lists shorter braking distances, smoother braking and extended service intervals among the main advantages of the AAA system.

When reversing, the automatic adjustment function is deactivated to prevent the brake from locking.

Contents of the small set

The set contains the brake shoes and corresponding springs and retaining components for both wheel brakes on one axle:

Important – only for 2051 AAA wheel brakes

This set is designed exclusively for AL-KO 2051 AAA wheel brakes with automatic adjustment.

The brake shoes used in the 2051 AAA version have a different design and are not interchangeable with standard AL-KO 2051 brake shoes with manual adjustment.

If you have a standard AL-KO 2050 or 2051 wheel brake without the AAA system, the standard AL-KO 1213889 / Set 48 is intended for normal brake shoe replacement.

How to identify the correct brake type

Before ordering, we recommend checking the wheel brake type designation. The brake type is normally marked on the outside of the brake backplate near the point where the brake cable enters the wheel brake.

For this set, the brake must be the AL-KO 2051 AAA version. Another important specification is the brake size 200 × 50 mm – the brake drum has an internal diameter of 200 mm and the brake shoes are 50 mm wide.

The original brake shoes may also carry the marking 1650426.

Replacing the brake shoes

Brake shoes are safety-critical components of a trailer braking system. We recommend replacing the brake shoes on both wheels of one axle at the same time to maintain even braking performance on both sides of the trailer.

When replacing the brake shoes, it is also advisable to inspect the condition of the brake drums, springs, AAA automatic adjustment mechanism, brake cables and other wheel brake components.

Important note when removing the brake drum

When the brake drum is removed, AL-KO recommends using a new wheel hub flange nut during reassembly. The flange nut is not included in this set.

The braking system is a safety-critical part of the trailer. Installation and verification of correct brake operation should be carried out by a qualified workshop.
