The Cheval Liberté foal safety gate is a safety feature designed for transporting a mare with her foal in a horse trailer with a 1670 mm wide aluminium rear ramp. The distance between the mounting brackets is 1330 mm. The gate helps prevent the foal from attempting to jump over the ramp or becoming trapped in the space between the ramp and the roof, without restricting ventilation. It is attached to the outside of the rear ramp and can be easily folded down and secured with a pin. It does not interfere with normal operation of the ramp. On some trailer models, the rubber bumpers on the rear ramp must be adjusted during installation – they need to be removed and repositioned to accommodate the gate. Not suitable for reinforced plywood ramps.
