AL-KO Octagon Plus axle shock absorber
The original green AL-KO Octagon Plus axle shock absorber is specially designed for AL-KO axles, with damping characteristics optimised for the trailer’s weight category.
Unlike universal shock absorbers designed for a very wide range of loads, the Octagon Plus is tuned to match the characteristics of the axle. It effectively reduces unwanted trailer oscillation and bouncing when travelling over uneven surfaces.
Green version for 900 / 1,600 kg
AL-KO uses colour coding to distinguish the weight categories of its Octagon shock absorbers. The green Octagon Plus version 244084 is designed for:
- single-axle trailers – up to 900 kg
- twin-axle / tandem trailers – up to 1,600 kg
The green version is the lowest weight category in the range. Blue and red AL-KO Octagon Plus shock absorbers are designed for higher loads, while the black AL-KO Octagon Compact is intended for the heaviest trailers. Choosing a shock absorber that matches the trailer’s weight category is important for optimum damping performance.

AL-KO identifies Octagon shock absorbers by trailer weight category using colour coding. Each version has a damping characteristic optimised for the corresponding load.

The values shown are the maximum gross trailer weights for each version according to AL-KO. A shock absorber from a higher weight category is not automatically more suitable for a lighter trailer. For correct operation, choose a version that matches the weight and construction of the axle.

Axle shock absorbers reduce chassis oscillation and wheel bounce when travelling over uneven surfaces. A correctly selected AL-KO Octagon Plus shock absorber helps to provide:

AL-KO Octagon Plus design
The shock absorber uses articulated mounting eyes with rubber bushes. The design allows installation at an angle of up to 5° without unwanted tension and with low bush wear.
AL-KO uses overload protection, high-quality seals, a chrome-plated sintered-metal valve, a finely machined piston rod, dust protection between the inner and outer tubes, and special shock absorber oil.

Mounting hardware included
On AL-KO Octagon Plus shock absorbers, the mounting bolts are integrated into the shock absorber’s mounting eyes. The matching nuts are also included.
