 The inner cable is coated with PA12 polyamide and runs inside an additional PVC liner within the outer braided sheath. 

  PA12 material is extremely resistant to salt water and other substances. The cable end is protected by an elastomer grommet that effectively prevents water and dirt from entering the cable sheath.

  On the brake cable equaliser side, the cable is fitted with a quick-fit end fitting with a mushroom-shaped head, allowing the cable to be quickly inserted into the original AL-KO brake cable equaliser without tools.

  At the wheel brake assembly end, the cable terminates in a metal crimped ferrule that fits into the connector between the brake cable and the brake expander. This connector is part of the wheel brake assembly on each axle.

  For AL-KO axles with a hexagonal axle tube, we recommend using brake cable support brackets to further extend service life and reduce frictional resistance.

MAINTENANCE:

• We recommend replacing all brake cables with quick-fit end fittings at the same time. If only one brake cable is being replaced, a cable with a threaded end is preferable, as its length can be precisely adjusted using the thread to match the older cables.
• In poorly maintained braking systems, the connector between the brake cable and the brake expander may sometimes appear to be permanently pressed onto the cable. This is caused by corrosion of the connector where the crimped ferrule is inserted. The connector can usually be released and reused.
