AL-KO 1005 mm Breakaway Cable for 2.8VB Overrun Brake Assemblies

The genuine AL-KO breakaway cable 209385 is a safety-critical component of a trailer braking system. It is designed for the handbrake lever of selected AL-KO overrun brake assemblies, particularly the 2.8VB / 2.8VB/1-C series.

The cable is also used on selected Brian James Trailers fitted with the corresponding AL-KO overrun brake assembly.

Function of the Breakaway Cable

The breakaway cable is connected to the trailer's handbrake lever. If the trailer accidentally becomes detached from the towing vehicle while travelling, the cable pulls the handbrake lever and activates the trailer's mechanical brakes.

Its purpose is therefore not to keep the detached trailer connected to the towing vehicle, but to activate the trailer's braking system if it separates from the towing vehicle.
