Large complete set for AL-KO 2050, 2051 wheel brakes – Set 45

The genuine AL-KO 1213886 complete Set 45 is designed for AL-KO 2050 and 2051 wheel brakes with a brake drum internal diameter of 200 mm and brake shoe width of 50 mm.

Unlike a standard brake shoe kit, this set contains the complete internal brake mechanism for both wheel brakes on one axle. It is therefore particularly suitable for a complete repair or overhaul of older brakes where replacing only the worn brake shoes and springs is no longer sufficient.

Difference from AL-KO Set 48 / 1213889

Different service kits are available for AL-KO 2050 and 2051 wheel brakes. If the other brake components are in good condition and primarily the worn brake shoes need replacing, the AL-KO 1213889 / Set 48 is sufficient. It contains four brake shoes together with the required springs and retaining components.

The AL-KO 1213886 / Set 45 is a significantly more comprehensive kit designed for the complete overhaul of the internal mechanism of both wheel brakes on one axle. In addition to the brake shoes, it includes expander and adjustment mechanisms, components of the automatic reversing mechanism and other parts of the brake assembly.

Set 45 is therefore particularly suitable for the complete overhaul of older or heavily worn brakes, or where other mechanical components inside the brake drum are corroded, damaged or excessively worn.

How to identify the correct brake type

Before ordering, we recommend checking the wheel brake type designation. The brake type is normally marked on the outside of the brake backplate near the point where the brake cable enters the wheel brake.

For this set, look for the designation AL-KO 2050 or AL-KO 2051. Another important specification is the brake size 200 × 50 mm – the brake drum has an internal diameter of 200 mm and the brake shoes are 50 mm wide.

The original brake shoes may also carry the marking 384294.

Brake replacement and adjustment

The brake shoes and other wheel brake components are safety-critical parts of the trailer braking system. Wear or corrosion of individual components can result in reduced braking performance, uneven braking or incorrect operation of the overrun braking system.

Set 45 allows both wheel brakes on one axle to be overhauled at the same time, helping to maintain consistent mechanical characteristics and even braking performance on both wheels.

After installation, both wheel brakes must be correctly adjusted, followed by adjustment of the central brake linkage. Correct adjustment is essential for even braking performance and proper operation of the overrun braking system.

Important note when removing the brake drum

When the brake drum is removed, AL-KO recommends using a new wheel hub flange nut during reassembly. The flange nut is not included in this complete set.

The braking system is a safety-critical part of the trailer. Installation and subsequent brake adjustment should be carried out by a qualified workshop.
