Genuine AL-KO 2050 / 2051 brake shoes

The genuine AL-KO brake shoe set 1213889 is designed for AL-KO 2050 and 2051 wheel brakes with a brake drum internal diameter of 200 mm and a brake shoe width of 50 mm.

This is a complete set for one axle, i.e. 2 wheels / 2 brake drums. The set includes four brake shoes together with the springs and retaining components required for replacement.

How to identify the correct brake shoes

Before ordering, we recommend checking the wheel brake identification. The brake type is usually marked on the outside of the brake backplate near the point where the brake cable connects to the wheel brake.

For this set, look for the designation AL-KO 2050 or AL-KO 2051. Another important specification is the brake size 200 × 50 mm – the brake drum has an internal diameter of 200 mm and the brake shoes are 50 mm wide.

The original brake shoes may also carry the markings 384294 or 1807779.

Replacing the brake shoes

Brake shoes are among the most important components of a trailer braking system. Worn brake shoes can result in reduced braking performance, uneven braking or increased travel of the overrun mechanism.

When replacing the brake shoes, we recommend replacing them on both wheels of the same axle at the same time. This set therefore contains the components required for both brake drums on one axle.

After fitting the new brake shoes, both wheel brakes must be correctly adjusted, followed by adjustment of the central brake linkage free play. Correct adjustment is essential for even braking performance and proper operation of the overrun braking system.

Important information when removing the brake drum

When the brake drum is removed, AL-KO recommends using a new wheel hub flange nut when reassembling the hub. The flange nut is not included in this brake shoe set.

The braking system is a safety-critical part of the trailer. We recommend having the brake shoes fitted and the braking system subsequently adjusted by a qualified workshop.
