KENDA K371 – reinforced 6PR tyre for trailers

KENDA K371 4.80/4.00-8 71M is a compact 6PR trailer tyre designed for heavy loads. It offers a load capacity of up to 345 kg per tyre and a speed rating of M – 130 km/h.

The K371 model is designed specifically for trailer use. Its tread design combines the appearance of a radial tyre with the durability of a bias-ply construction, while the flat tread profile contributes to trailer stability during driving.

This version is suitable, among other applications, as a replacement for the original tyres used on SPORTJACHT trailers, including older MITAS 4.00-8 tyres. Before replacement, we always recommend checking the dimensions of the existing wheel and rim.

Load capacity of 345 kg per tyre

The load index of 71 corresponds to a maximum load capacity of 345 kg per tyre at the speed corresponding to speed rating M. Two tyres can therefore provide a combined nominal load capacity of up to 690 kg.

However, the combined load capacity of the tyres does not determine the trailer's maximum authorised mass or payload. The actual permitted load is also limited by the load capacities of the rims, axle and chassis, as well as the approved mass limits of the specific trailer.

KENDA Loadstar K371

K371 is a KENDA tread pattern designed for trailer use. The flat tread profile is designed with trailer stability in mind, and the tyre construction provides high durability in trailer applications.

The 4.80/4.00-8 71M 6PR version is tubeless TL and approved according to ECE 54.

Reinforced 6PR construction

The tyre is marked 6PR. Ply Rating indicates the strength class of the tyre construction and its ability to operate under higher loads.

The 6PR marking does not mean that the tyre must physically contain six textile plies. It primarily indicates the strength category of its construction.

Compact 8" tyre

The tyre has an outside diameter of approximately 403 mm and an overall width of approximately 119 mm. Its very compact dimensions make it suitable for smaller trailers using 8" wheels.

The small wheel diameter allows a trailer design with a low loading platform while maintaining a high tyre load capacity.

For 8" trailer rims 3.75I

For the KENDA K371 4.80/4.00-8 71M tyre, the manufacturer specifies the recommended rim as 3.75I.

When replacing the tyre, always check that the specific rim is suitable for the 4.80/4.00-8 size. An 8" rim diameter alone is not sufficient to establish compatibility.

Replacement tyres for SPORTJACHT trailers

The KENDA K371 4.80/4.00-8 tyre is suitable, among other applications, as a replacement for tyres used on older SPORTJACHT trailers.

It can replace older MITAS 4.00-8 tyres, including versions with S 03 and S 04 tread patterns, which are no longer manufactured. Before ordering, we recommend comparing the dimensions of the original tyre and the fitted rim.

Correct tyre pressure

The maximum inflation pressure specified for the KENDA K371 4.80/4.00-8 71M 6PR tyre is 6.2 bar / 620 kPa. This is the tyre's maximum pressure, not a universally recommended operating pressure.
