Brian James Tipper 3.1 x 1.6 m Hydraulic Tipping Trailers
Brian James Tipper 3.1 x 1.6 m tipping trailers combine compact dimensions, exceptionally robust construction and a high payload capacity. Their manageable size and excellent manoeuvrability make them ideal for confined construction sites, urban building projects, narrow streets, courtyards, gardens and other restricted-access locations where larger tipping trailers can be difficult to operate.
These professional twin-axle trailers from the renowned British manufacturer Brian James Trailers are available with a maximum authorised mass of 2,700 kg or 3,500 kg. Both models feature Single-Ram electro-hydraulic rear tipping, a reinforced loading platform and fully removable 308 mm steel side panels. This versatile design allows them to be used not only as powerful tipping trailers but also as open flatbed trailers for construction materials, palletised goods and suitable machinery.

Brian James Tipper 3.1 x 1.6 m – compact tipping trailers with a high payload capacity
The Brian James Tipper 3.1 x 1.6 m range comprises compact, professional electro-hydraulic rear tipping trailers manufactured by the renowned British company Brian James Trailers. These exceptionally robust twin-axle trailers combine compact dimensions with a high payload capacity and construction designed for intensive everyday use.
The range includes two weight variants with a maximum authorised mass of 2,700 kg and 3,500 kg. Both versions feature the electro-hydraulic Single-Ram tipping system with one hydraulic cylinder and offer extensive options for individual configuration.
Ideal tipping trailers for urban construction sites and confined spaces
One of the greatest advantages of the Brian James Tipper 3.1 x 1.6 m models is their compact size and excellent manoeuvrability. Compared with larger tipping trailers, they are easier to handle in restricted spaces, including urban construction sites, narrow streets, gateways, courtyards, gardens and smaller building plots.
In such locations, being able to transport construction materials as close as possible to the point of use is particularly important. The compact design makes manoeuvring, turning and reversing easier without unnecessarily compromising transport capability.
Compact dimensions do not mean limited carrying capacity. The Tipper 3.1 x 1.6 m range is available with a maximum authorised mass of up to 3,500 kg, making it an attractive solution for professionals who need to transport heavy materials to sites with restricted access. The actual payload depends on the individual model and its equipment.
Exceptionally robust construction for professional use
Brian James Tipper trailers are recognised for their strong, carefully engineered construction, designed to meet the demands of professional everyday operation. A robust chassis, reinforced loading platform and durable steel side panels provide a reliable foundation for transporting construction materials and other loads.
High structural rigidity and attention to manufacturing quality contribute to long service life. The Tipper 3.1 x 1.6 m models are therefore suitable not only for private building projects but especially for construction companies, tradespeople, landscaping contractors and municipal service operators.
Single-Ram electro-hydraulic rear tipping
Both weight variants are equipped as standard with the Single-Ram electro-hydraulic rear tipping system, using a single hydraulic cylinder. This system is designed for the compact tipping body and allows convenient unloading of sand, gravel, soil and other suitable bulk materials.
Electric operation makes repeated unloading throughout the working day considerably easier. The hydraulic system is powered by its own battery, which must be kept sufficiently charged.
During tipping operations, the manufacturer's instructions must always be followed. The trailer must be positioned securely, and the permitted loads and correct weight distribution must be respected.
Fully removable steel sides – tipping trailer and flatbed in one
Brian James Tipper models come with robust 308 mm high steel side panels as standard. All side panels and corner posts can be completely removed, creating an open loading platform suitable for bulky items and palletised materials.
This design allows the trailer to perform several different functions. In addition to conventional transport and tipping of bulk materials, it can be used as a versatile flatbed trailer for building materials, tools, equipment and other loads.
The commercial model designation 3.1 x 1.6 m refers to the internal loading dimensions between the side panels. Removing the sides provides a larger open loading area, with exact dimensions specified in the technical documentation for the particular model.
Standard steel side panels in five colours
Brian James Trailers offers five colour options for the steel side panels of its Tipper models. Customers can therefore choose an appearance that suits their preferences or matches their company's vehicle fleet.
The choice of colour does not change the trailer's basic technical characteristics. Availability of individual finishes depends on the manufacturer's current range and stock levels.
Side extensions for increased load volume
Brian James Tipper trailers can be equipped with various side extensions to increase the volume of the load area. These accessories allow the trailer to be adapted for transporting different bulk and lightweight, bulky materials.
Solid side extensions – 308 mm
The 308 mm high solid side extensions complement the standard side panels of the same height. When installed, they provide a nominal combined side height of approximately 616 mm.
Mesh side extensions – 660 mm
660 mm high mesh extensions are particularly suitable for transporting lightweight, bulky materials such as branches, green waste and other appropriate loads. Together with the standard sides, the nominal combined height is approximately 968 mm.
Reinforced Heavy Duty solid side extensions – 660 mm
660 mm high reinforced Heavy Duty solid extensions create a tall, robust load compartment suitable for more demanding professional applications. Combined with the standard side panels, they provide a nominal total height of approximately 968 mm.
Important: Increasing the load volume does not increase the trailer's maximum authorised mass or payload. The weight of fitted accessories must be taken into account, and axle load limits and correct load distribution must always be observed.
Practical 2-Way Tailgate
The standard 2-Way Tailgate offers two opening methods, making different loading and unloading operations easier.
For selected configurations, twin rear doors may also be available, providing additional access options to the loading platform.
Loading ramps for mini excavators and construction machinery
Depending on the model and configuration, compact Brian James Tipper trailers can be fitted with steel loading ramps for suitable construction machinery, including smaller machines used in building and landscaping work.
The accessory range includes ramps measuring 1,800 mm or 2,350 mm in length. Longer ramps provide a more favourable loading angle, particularly useful when loading machinery with limited ground clearance.
When transporting machinery, its weight, wheel or track spacing, ramp load capacity, trailer suitability and correct weight distribution must all be checked. Suitable rear stabiliser legs can provide additional stability during loading and unloading.
Extensive range of optional equipment
The Brian James Tipper 3.1 x 1.6 m range can be equipped with practical accessories that expand its capabilities and make everyday work easier.
- Electric winch for loading suitable machinery.
- Steel loading ramps measuring 1,800 or 2,350 mm.

Two weight variants – 2,700 and 3,500 kg
The Brian James Tipper 3.1 x 1.6 m range includes two twin-axle versions distinguished by their maximum authorised mass.
Brian James Tipper 526-3116-27-2-13 – 2,700 kg
A professional twin-axle electro-hydraulic tipping trailer with a maximum authorised mass of 2,700 kg. Its compact dimensions make it a practical choice for construction companies, tradespeople and other users who need a robust, easily manoeuvrable rear tipping trailer.
Brian James Tipper 526-3116-35-2-12 – 3,500 kg
A professional twin-axle electro-hydraulic tipping trailer with a maximum authorised mass of 3,500 kg. It offers a higher permitted weight category while retaining compact dimensions, making it especially useful for transporting heavier loads to sites with limited space.
Both variants use the Single-Ram system with one hydraulic cylinder. Actual payload is determined by the trailer's permitted gross weight minus its unladen weight and any fitted equipment.
